Peer Evaluations

An important component of the VIP team experience is peer evaluation. Students evaluate classmates with whom they work, with one evaluation at midterms and one at the end of each semester. Only instructors can view completed evaluations, and they use them in monitoring student progress. Students can only submit peer evaluations during active evaluation periods. Instructors can access evaluations at any time.

  • Please scroll down for some commonly asked questions during the Peer Evaluation period.
    • Peer-evaluations go LIVE on Monday, April 15th and will stay open until Wednesday, April 24th.
    • Peer-evaluations are REQUIRED for all students and are an important part of your overall grade.
    • Students can only access the peer evaluation portion of the system during active evaluation periods.
    • Once peer-evaluations are closed, the VIP program cannot re-open them.
    • Please complete them as soon as possible so if you encounter an issue, we are able to help you.

Common Trouble Shooting Issues

*"I can't find the submit button and I'm stuck!"*
>> Please zoom out to 50% so you will have expanded view, and you should now be able to see the button to move forward.

* The preferred browsers are Chrome, Safari and Firefox.
Internet Explorer, Edge or any browsers in Linux Operating System is not supported for the Peer Evaluation/Webman system.

*Error messages, "This site can't be reached" or "The connection has timed out," indicates you may NOT be successfully connected to Campus VPN.

Login/VPN Issues

Please make sure you are accessing the Peer Evaluation System using VPN.
(For example, if you are simply connecting to Eduroam from your own device, you will most likely have to go through VPN.)
You may wish to use a Client VPN software instaed of a clientless one, as it seems some websites do not behave properly using the clientless VPN.

1. More information on VPN: "Getting Started Using the VPN"
2. Via the GlobalProtect Clientless VPN
3. Via the Virtual Lab Pool (MyCloud Virtual Machine)

Peer Evaluations are Required (really)

Per the syllabus, there is a grade penalty for not participating in the peer evaluation process. This is because teamwork is an important part of the VIP experience. Peer evaluations are one tool instructors use to monitor teamwork, along with observations during team meetings and your VIP notebooks.

Who do You Evaluate?

The first question in the evaluation is, "How often do you interact with each student?" If you do not know a student, mark "1 (I do not know this person)." If you know but did not work with a student, mark "2." You will not evaluate classmates for whom you marked 1 or 2.  If your advisor instructs you to only evaluate your subteam, you will respond with "1" or "2" for students outside of your subteam.

Reporting Problems

When emailing support, vip@gatech.edu please include the following:
- your username, GTID, and VIP team name, section #
- error messages the system is giving you.  Screenshot works great.
- Describe when the error occurs (when you login, when you click submit, etc.)
- Generally the more details helps us minimize back and forth and will save time.

Here's to wishing for a seemless and easy Peer Evaluation experience!
