Team Phoenix, a student cluster competition team supported by Georgia Tech's VIP program, placed 3rd out of 19 teams of undergraduates in the Supercomputing 2020 Student Cluster Competition. The team used VIP as a springboard to teach students about high performance computing systems and applications, and 6 students selected from the Spring 2020 VIP class competed on behalf of Georgia Tech. GT's performance was impressive for their first team effort since 2017. VIP instructors Rich Vuduc, Aaron Jezghani, Will Powell, and Jeff Young helped lead the group along with graduate student Vijay Thakkar, who was the team mentor.
