Goals

WILL RETURN SPRING 2026
We aim to establish an integrated, collaborative learning environment that explores cinematic filmmaking in the Unreal Engine and offers hands-on experience in film development, production, distribution, and exhibition. Our diverse project teams allow students to work alongside industry professionals to design, fundraise, write, shoot, edit, and market original content while cultivating practical skills and confidence in filmmaking.

Issues Involved or Addressed

Finding a cinematic voice that best illustrates the story you want to tell.
Learning how to balance artistry with practical logistics.
Working with community partners in cross-media collaborations.
Organizing documents for effective, on-budget, shooting and postproduction.

  • Evaluate original scripts by GT student/faculty
  • Study current artistic trends in scripted film/TV markets
  • Build and design virtual sets in UE5
  • Refine mo-cap setup & test-run UE5 & Blender
  • Identify exhibition venues for select movie projects
  • Conduct technical script analyses for filming teams
  • Perform location scouting
  • Design and create Metahumans
  • Give pitches before media-making professionals
  • Draft/revise marketing/fundraising requests.

Preferred Interests and Preparation

Background or interest in media studies, film studies, television/cable/streaming studies, media production and exhibition, scripted story or narrative development (including genre studies), computational media, computer science, cultural studies, performance, and/or film/media funding recommended. Interest in exploring the practical process of filmmaking, including troubleshooting and adapting to sociopolitical and technological challenges, is required.
