Coastal Georgia Climate Solutions

Goals
The CEAR Hub enhances coastal communities’ resilience to climate hazards like flooding and extreme heat through inclusive, people-centered approaches. Partnering with researchers in Atlanta and Savannah, the team develops practical solutions for Georgia’s coastal regions. Projects include deploying IoT devices to monitor water levels for better emergency response, using data analytics and visualization for education and outreach, and supporting urban planning and policy work with local governments. By integrating education, workforce development, and data-driven economic strategies, the CEAR Hub aims to help communities adapt, grow, and thrive amidst environmental challenges with innovative technological solutions.
Issues Involved or Addressed
Impacts of climate change to communities on the Georgia coast. This includes increased flooding, heat exposure, and reduced air quality. Integration of technical, scientific, and social approaches to environmental challenges. Disproportionate impacts of climate hazards on vulnerable communities. Developing metrics and indicators to understand, measure, and evaluate the impacts of resilience strategies.
