IP Advocacy and Outreach

Goals

Cultivate a campus-wide culture of innovation and intellectual property awareness through a multi-faceted approach. The team will tackle real-world challenges by creating or modifying products, use IP protection mechanisms like patents and trademarks, conduct research, and publish best practices for integrating innovation and intellectual property management within universities. Working with community partners, the team will also expand intellectual property education and resources to the community, to broaden access to this critical knowledge and inspire future innovators.

Issues Involved or Addressed

By providing comprehensive training on intellectual property protection, covering topics such as patents, trademarks, and copyright, the team will cultivate a collaborative design environment where students develop innovative solutions and learn from each other. IP considerations will be integrated into the design process, ensuring that intellectual property is protected and managed effectively. By combining practical skills in research administration with a strong foundation in intellectual property, this project aims to empower Georgia Tech’s research community and solidify its position as a global leader in innovation.
